Inaugurating Waddington Custot’s Paris space, Le Choc Nabis highlights this pioneering movement of European modernism. Featuring works by Bonnard, Denis, Vuillard, Sérusier and Ranson, the exhibition emphasizes their bold use of color, flattened forms and symbolic intensity. In dialogue with contemporary artists such as Etel Adnan, Ian Davenport and Fabienne Verdier, it reveals the enduring relevance of a subjective and profoundly modern vision of painting.

Group show of Emile Bernard, Pierre Bonnard, Maurice Denis, Charles Filiger, Paul Ranson, József Rippl-Rónai, Ker-Xavier Roussel, Paul Sérusier, Félix Vallotton et Edouard Vuillard, Etel Adnan, Ben Arpéa, Marcel·la Barcelo, Ian Davenport, Marcel Dzama, Pierre Knop, François Réau, Anne Rothenstein, Christine Safa and Fabienne Verdier

The gallery

Founded in 2010 through the partnership of gallerists Leslie Waddington and Stéphane Custot, the Waddington Custot gallery has maintained a tradition of excellence on Cork Street, London, for over 60 years. Under the exclusive direction of Stéphane Custot since 2015, the gallery is renowned for its expertise in the works of modern and contemporary masters, with a particular focus on monumental sculpture, the Nabis painters, and photorealist artists. It organizes meticulously researched exhibitions dedicated to influential artists from the 20th century to the present day, such as Fabienne Verdier, Hans Hartung, Pierre Soulages, and Bernar Venet, as well as contemporary artists like Kenia Almaraz Murillo, Peter Blake, Patrick Caulfield, and Ian Davenport. Waddington Custot currently has three locations: London (since 1958), Dubai (since 2016), and Paris, opening in April 2026.
