Regards sur l’art espagnol, 1945-2025
Group show
Juan Genovés - Descampado, 2015 - Acrylique sur panneau - 130 x 100 cm - @Enrique Palacio
For nearly eighty years, the Spanish art scene has enjoyed international prominence, engaging in a constant dialogue between history, memory, and formal renewal. The exhibition is built around a group of works from the Opera Gallery collection and presents a deliberately open selection, allowing viewers to grasp the continuities and ruptures that run through modern and contemporary Spanish art.
‘Regards sur l’art espagnol’ highlights masters of Spanish art alongside artists from the contemporary scene, such as Pablo Picasso, Juan Miró, Antonio Saura, Antoni Tàpies, Rafael Canogar, Manolo Valdés, Juan Genovés, Luis Gordillo, Pedro Almodóvar, Jorge Galindo, Xevi Solà, David Magàn, Adrián Navarro, Cristina Babiloni, and Miguel Sainz Ojeda.
The works brought together here bear witness to the vitality of an artistic scene that has never stopped reinventing itself while asserting a deeply rooted identity, open to the world. Far from offering a linear narrative, the show invites a freer reflection on the evolution of artistic creation in Spain since the end of the Second World War. It sheds light on enduring constants—such as the importance of material, gesture, and memory—alongside the profound transformations linked to the country’s political, social, and cultural changes. From the shadow of dictatorship to a free and plural contemporary scene, this exhibition pays tribute to the richness of Spanish art, shaped by resistance, memory, and renewal.
