Aysha E Arar , Palestine
"There was love, there was death and there was you"
The Dvir/Paris gallery is pleased to announce “Do not cut my wings, I have the right to fly/Ne me coupez pas les ailes, j’ai le droit de voler,” a solo exhibition by Palestinian artist Aysha E Arar (born in 1993, lives and works in Jaljulia). The artist will also be exhibiting at the Sans titre gallery.
The works, created over the past few months, offer a unique combination of charcoal, ballpoint pen, and pastel on large pieces of white cotton, traditionally used as “Kafan” (funeral shrouds) in Islam. Arar’s line is like a stream of consciousness: words, poems, fantastical creatures, bodies, and bombs collide on the canvases, vividly depicting the violent reality of war. The chosen support and techniques contribute to establishing a powerful visual language that resonates with the dark context in which they were produced.
Solo show of Aysha E Arar
From April 27th to June 15th, 2024
