SEPTIEME Gallery
Zinkpe , Bénin
"L'envers du monde - Variations pour dessin sur toile"
From May 2nd to June 22nd, 2024, SEPTIEME presents an exhibition of unpublished works by Zinkpe, a major artist of the contemporary Beninese scene, in the form of silent variations. Offering a window into Zinkpe’s universe from the Parisian space of SEPTIEME, this arrangement of canvas drawings opens up the field of abolishing modern boundaries between the spiritual, human, animal, and vegetal orders to propose another possible arrangement of reality.

The gallery
SEPTIEME Gallery was founded in 2019 by Julie Banâtre and Léa Perier Loko. SEPTIEME Gallery conveys a cosmopolitan vision by questioning the notion of belonging and exploring the subtlety of the world. The gallery aims to disrupt perceptions and is committed to making its activity a manifesto of the in-between.
In September 2022, SEPTIEME Gallery opened its second space in Cotonou, Benin. Situated in a Haussmannian setting in Paris, SEPTIEME chose a 200m2 warehouse in the center of Cotonou to offer exhibitions in a new format to audiences in the West African sub-region. It was logical for SEPTIEME to expand its vision into space and contribute to pushing the boundaries of contemporary art as well as to the construction of new strongholds of contemporary art, as the city of Cotonou has been experiencing a cultural and artistic boom in recent years.
