Kata Unger : Philosophical Zombies - 250 x 235 cm - laine sur laine - 2024

‘There’s a Man in a Smiling Bag’ brings together six Berlin-based artists. The title is one of three clues given to an FBI agent by a creepy friendly giant in episode 1, season 2 of David Lynch’s ‘Twin Peaks’. This reference emphasizes an approach marked by mystery, a shared element in the practice of the six artists.
Philosophical zombies collide with mystical anarchy to converge in a playful darkness in the gallery. This is the case in Kata Unger’s tapestries, where codes and chaos blend. The exhibition creates a space where systems collapse and new meanings emerge. The voices of the six artists transcend certainties, allowing the strange to speak for itself.

Group show of Heiner Franzen, Philip Grözinger, Lou Hoyer, Fee Kleiß, Kata Unger and Marlon Wobst

The gallery

For 26 years the GALERIE MARIA LUND has been encouraging a contemporary art that combines conceptual depth and visual pertinence; strong works that suggest meaning rather than imposing one, and in a contemporary form raise existential questions. The works of the artists represented cover a wide range of media: installation, sculpture, painting, drawing, photo, performance, video, textile and poetry. In addition to the organization of exhibitions at its premises and participation in various fairs, the gallery also promotes its artists to institutions and private organizations, handles commissions, publishes books and occasionally host other artistic fields (theatre, music, literature) for one-off events.

The gallery is a member of the French galleries association, CPGA – and of pgmap – paris gallery map.
