The exhibition retraces two decades of collaboration between the gallery and Jérôme Lagarrigue, a French-American artist based in Brooklyn. Through a selection of portraits, he questions American society and the space it reserves for the African-American community.
While the artist uses human representation as a medium for his research, the focus of his painting lies in the study of intimacy and the confrontation between the particular and the universal. Jérôme Lagarrigue thus creates a taxonomy of the human race: he observes those around him to reveal their iconic nature and shines a spotlight on these anonymous figures.

The gallery
Since 2005, we have endeavored to promote the work of artists from different regions of the world, both emerging and confirmed. Their artistic practices touch on painting, photography, sculpture, design and electronic arts. We are committed to developing a demonstration and visibility platform for them in our spaces in Paris as well as at several international contemporary art fairs.
An artist residency in Miami, set up in 2019, then the opening of a new Parisian space in 2021 and an office in London in 2022 are part of this desire to encourage exchanges and support the contemporary creation.
The gallery is a member of the Professional Committee of Art Galleries (France).
