Galerie SIT DOWN
Florian Ruiz , France
"Le monde de l’invisible"
In his work, Florian Ruiz challenges a form of tyranny of the visible, and through image superimpositions, he achieves landscape views characterized by broken perspectives and visual palimpsests that echo the principles of Far Eastern aesthetics, where the visible is a transitory state generated by the undifferentiated background.
By weakening the medium, these heterogeneous practices enliven our connection with the world and its realities.
Héloïse Conésa (heritage curator responsible for contemporary photography at the Department of Prints and Photography of the BNF)
With support from CNAP galleries, an exhibition of the National Center for Visual Arts.

The gallery
Located in Le Marais in Paris, the Sit Down gallery was founded by Françoise Bornstein in 2005. Since 2013, the gallery has been primarily dedicated to contemporary photography from the French and international scene, with a particular focus on documentary photography. Sit Down gallery showcases both emerging and renowned artists and also takes an interest in artists who engage photography with other mediums or question the limits of its mimetic use.
In addition to solo exhibitions, Françoise Bornstein invites curators for off-site exhibition projects, often during festivals such as the Rencontres d'Arles. The gallery participates in international fairs such as PARIS PHOTO, ART PARIS Art Fair, PHOTO LONDON, PHOTO LA in Los Angeles, THE PHOTOGRAPHY SHOW presented by AIPAD in New York, and HAUTE PHOTOGRAPHIE in Amsterdam.
The gallery is a member of the Professional Committee of Art Galleries (CPGA) and the Association of International Photography Art Dealers (AIPAD).
