Jonathan Bréchignac presents a project initiated during his residency at Yishu 8 in Beijing in 2024, which was subsequently exhibited at the New Franco-Chinese Institute. Still in development, the project takes various forms. Pine pollen serves as its starting point, through which the artist explores the physical and symbolic dimensions of life. Minimalist paintings (pollen activated with water), ovoid sculptures containing raw pollen, and an olfactory component developed with a perfumer make up the body of work, complemented by herbal teas made from buds. Derived from palynology, pollen—which is extremely resilient—becomes here a medium connecting memory, temporality, and sensory experience.
Solo show of Jonathan Brechignac

The gallery
The Studio is the name given to the new space created at the very heart of the current gallery. This creation is not simply an extension: it is intended as a symbolic gesture, a reflection of the history of the place. Indeed, its surface area of 22.48 m² faithfully reproduces that of the very first gallery space, which opened in Belleville fifteen years ago.
The Studio acts as a time capsule and a laboratory, a space for reflection on the identity and evolution of the gallery. Both a tribute to its beginnings and a projection into the future, it will remain in place for one year. During this period, the Studio will host a parallel programme — exhibitions, residencies, experiments — that will interact with the main programme, thus opening up a new space for freedom, intimacy and artistic exploration.
