"Clarissa Bonet, City Space"

La Galerie Rouge presents the first solo exhibition in Europe of American artist Clarissa Bonet. In her City Space Series, Bonet transforms the tradition of street photography, creating staged scenes based on real or imaginary scenes that she composes in the manner of the painter Edward Hopper. Choosing the pedestrian point of view enables her to explore the urban environment both as physical and psychological space. The photographs in City Space consider the lived experience of the constructed landscape that we all inhabit, our relationship to it, and the people who surround us. Gradually, this anonymous city takes on the shape of a surreal or poetic interior space, often the site of solitudes.
