Alexis Lartigue Fine Art
Simon Hantaï , Hongrie
"Peintures de 1950 à 1981"
Simon Hantaï, an immersive retrospective dedicated to one of the most innovative artists of the 20th century. Through his works, Simon Hantaï redefined the boundaries of painting, constantly exploring the possibilities offered by the act of folding the canvas before applying color to it.
This technique, which he perfected throughout his career, lies at the heart of his artistic approach and has given rise to works of unparalleled visual and emotional power.
The exhibition unfolds in several sections, each devoted to a period or emblematic series of the artist, from his early experiments in the 1950s to his major works of the Marial, Tabulas, Panses, and Watercolors series.
Hantaï’s evolution in practice is marked by an incessant quest for renewal and profound reflection on the role of chance and mastery in the creative process.
