Carte blanche granted to Henri Guette

On the occasion of Paris Gallery Week-end 2025, galerie 22,48 m² inaugurates “Forces en Présence”, Jean-Baptiste Caron’s sixth solo show in the gallery space.

For this new exhibition, Jean-Baptiste Caron continues his exploration of the invisible phenomena that shape the world, revealing, through the prism of sculpture and installation, a silent cosmogony where matter and the intangible enter into tension.

Curated by Henri Guette, the exhibition unfolds as a subtle dialogue between gravity and lightness, stability and precariousness, the visible and the imperceptible.

The artist excels in the art of materializing the invisible. His works not only depict natural and cosmic forces, they capture their essence, making them almost tangible. By exposing the traces of telluric forces or revealing the fragility of breath. His work is part of a poetics of the threshold, where equilibrium is always in abeyance. Each sculpture acts as a physical and sensory experience, confronting the viewer with that which both transcends and traverses us.

Far from a scientific demonstration or a purely formal exercise, the exhibition orchestrates a ballet of instabilities where matter confronts its own limits. Jean-Baptiste Caron stages moments of tilt and uncertainty, where beginning and end merge, where inertia and movement interpenetrate. In this way, his works don’t give themselves away immediately: they reveal themselves over time, in the viewer’s attention, in the acceptance of a necessary wait.

“Forces en Présence” doesn’t just document the invisible; it invites us to experience it, to feel its discreet, elusive power, while confronting us with the forces that run through us and shape us. In a way, it’s a testing of the senses, which allows us to question our own relationship with the world.

The gallery

22.48 m² is a contemporary art gallery dedicated to promoting emerging artists. Founded in 2010 by Rosario Caltabiano, it actively contributes to the French and international contemporary art scene.
Its name refers to the size of its first exhibition space in Belleville, Paris, a modest venue that encouraged artists to rethink their practices and encourage experimentation.
In 2023, the gallery moved to Romainville, becoming part of the collective project KOMUNUMA, alongside other galleries and artistic structures. Located in a cultural district that also houses the FRAC Île-de-France Reserves, the Fiminco Foundation and workshops, the gallery is part of an ecosystem dedicated to contemporary art and the performing arts.
While the gallery has a larger space, it retains its original name, in homage to its original spirit: to showcase emerging talent and explore a diversity of artistic mediums, from painting to digital art. It also organises events, such as performances, meetings and workshops, to strengthen the links between art and the public.
The gallery takes part in numerous contemporary art fairs in France and abroad: ART BRUSSELS, ART PARIS, ART COLOGNE, ART ROTTERDAM, LOOP BARCELONA, ARTISSIMA, DRAWING NOW, ART-O-RAMA, ART VILNIUS, etc.
For almost 15 years, 22.48 m² has been working with a wide range of partners, taking part in prestigious fairs and rethinking the traditional art gallery model with enthusiasm, establishing itself as a committed and innovative cultural player.
