"Une constellation familiale : Yves Klein, Rotraut, Marie Raymond et Seffa Klein"
The Poggi Gallery is pleased to present the first solo show of the Franco-American artist Seffa Klein in its new space from May 16 to June 29, 2024.
As the granddaughter of Yves Klein and the daughter of artists Kathy Klein and Yves Amu Klein, Seffa Klein comes from an impressive artistic lineage. She is also the great-granddaughter of the renowned French painter Marie Raymond and the great-niece of the artist Günther Uecker. In dialogue with this family constellation, the gallery will present a selection of works by Yves Klein, Rotraut, and Marie Raymond in its Project Room.
Born in 1996 in Phoenix, Arizona (USA), Seffa Klein is known for her abstract, alchemical, and cerebral works that explore themes related to metaphysics and the nature of human existence within the cosmos. Through works incorporating a variety of materials and chemical elements (such as molten Bismuth, Gallium, woven glass, plaster, acrylics, etc.), she questions human consciousness on both particle and social scales.
Seffa Klein trained in Northern Arizona and later attended UCLA in Los Angeles (USA). Her work has been featured in several group and solo exhibitions in Los Angeles, including at Wilding Cran, Huntington Beach Art Center, Ochi Projects, Amber Hills, Berkshire Botanical Garden (Stockbridge, MA), and others. In 2019, Artnet listed her among the nine emerging artists from Los Angeles to watch.

The gallery
The Poggi Gallery is one of the most significant contemporary art galleries of its generation in France. Founded in 2009 by curator and art historian Jérôme Poggi, the gallery, initially located in northern Paris, opened a second space in 2014, followed by a third in October 2023 in front of the Centre Georges Pompidou. Representing twenty-three artists today, the gallery is particularly renowned for its forward-thinking approach, providing institutional and economic recognition to artists often on the fringes of contemporary art. The Poggi Gallery participates in major international art fairs such as Paris + by Art Basel (FR), Art Basel Basel (CH), Art Basel Miami Beach, The Armory Show (USA), ARCO (Madrid), etc.
