MASSIMODECARLO Pièce Unique is very pleased to present the work of Mai-Thu Perret, whose artistic practice offers the possibility to understand how bodies are the implicit protagonists of artistic creation and how feminist narratives and counter-narratives can be used to reflect on the world in utilitarian, symbolic and mystical way. Her presentation is accompanied by a text written by MAMCO curator Julien Fronsacq.

The gallery
MASSIMODECARLO Pièce Unique opened its doors on February 9, 2021, in the heart of the Marais district in Paris. The gallery is dedicated to offering a dynamic and optimistic program of exhibitions featuring unique artworks, visible day and night through the vast glass roof of the space.
The gallery came to life when De Carlo acquired "Pièce Unique" - a visionary exhibition space founded by the Neapolitan gallerist Lucio Amelio in Paris in 1989. Conceived with Cy Twombly and designed as a showcase for contemporary art 24/7, Pièce Unique challenged conventional gallery formats by presenting one work at a time and making art visible to everyone and available on the street.
MASSIMODECARLO Pièce Unique follows this same curatorial premise, propelling Amelio's project into the 21st century. By giving new life to Lucio Amelio's legacy, the new space of MASSIMODECARLO, designed by architects Kengo Kuma and PiM.Studio, aspires to offer an alternative exhibition model for the contemporary art system.
