Francisca Aninat , Cuba
"Hills in a distance"
Francisca Aninat uses images to explore unknown places through the fragmented history of a person she did not know. A chance encounter, an envelope containing several photographs from the 1940s, serves as the starting point of the exhibition. Aninat delved into the handwritten annotations behind the black and white photographs, situating the images within a vast universe and a collection of forms. In a fragile materiality, the photographs are redrawn in plaster, transferred onto canvas, or placed before us with their narratives. Overall, we observe that all objects are interconnected, a red string becomes a means to hold onto clues, the certainties that the artist undoes. Aninat seems to question what we see, what we leave behind, what is said and what is left unsaid, and how to follow our expectations.

The gallery
Contemporary art collector and diplomat, Juan Carlos Bendana-Pinel definitely put aside his career to open a gallery in the Parisian district of Le Marais in 2008. The focus was placed on creation in all its forms (painting, sculpture, photography, video, installation, drawing) and a program laying great emphasis on international artists, mostly European and Latin American.
For the first time in Europe, he held exhibitions of artists Pablo Lobato and Pedro Motta from Brazil, Florencia Rodriguez Giles and Mauro Giaconi from Argentina, Francisca Aninat from Chili, Alejandra Laviada from Mexico, Giancarlo Scaglia from Peru, and Niklas Goldbach from Germany.
He is the only representative in France of the Swedish Maria Friberg and Thomas Broomé, the Germans Matthias Reinmuth and Julio Rondo, the Argentinian Miguel Rothschild, the Brazilians Débora Bolsoni, Dias & Riedweg and Caio Reisewitz, the Swiss Olivier Richon, the Israeli Irit Batsry, the Chilean Sandra Vásquez de la Horra and the Mexicans Lake Verea.
He also promotes artists living in France, in particular Steven Le Priol, Christiane Pooley, Alberto Cont.
