Stems Gallery is pleased to present the first solo exhibition of Nick Farhi in France, titled “Rêverie,” featuring ten paintings of urban landscapes from New York and Mexico.
In Farhi’s paintings depicting rain-soaked city streets, the light from street lamps, cars, and neon signs refracts through the veil of water on the pavement. Skillfully manipulating oil paint, Farhi employs a palette of vibrant colors that he has been mixing himself for over a decade. Rejecting the classical reliance on primary and impersonal colors, Farhi’s paintings depart from faithful representation of their environment to become uniquely singular worlds.

Stems Gallery is pleased to present “La Vitrine,” a duo exhibition featuring artists Sarah Lee and Annette Hur.
Sarah Lee breathes new life into landscape painting, merging tradition and modernity beyond the usual confines of figuration and abstraction. Her surreal and whimsical landscapes, reminiscent of fairy tale settings, exude a strange emptiness. It’s as if she deliberately erased figures or objects, creating a captivating aura of intrigue and wonder in her work. Annette Hur creates visual narratives on the objectification of the female individual, integrating inner confidence to dismantle the false nature of inherited traditional culture and leap into the unknown. Working with abstraction through mixed techniques and Korean silk textiles, Hur explores the universality of gendered ideologies that subconsciously manipulate and subvert socio-sexual identities, as well as how social projections are rooted in our bodies and minds.

The gallery
Stems Gallery is an emerging gallery based in Brussels and Paris. Founded in 2015 by siblings Pascaline and Guillaume Smets, it showcases the work of emerging artists, with a particular focus on introducing contemporary American artists to European audiences. Highlighting artworks across all mediums and formats, including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, video, and installation, the gallery's program is guided by intuition and curiosity rather than rigorously defined criteria. Each exhibition is the result of close collaboration between the gallery and the artist or curator, allowing artists to communicate their individual creative visions and to showcase the energy and dynamism of the Belgian art scene.
