Galerie Papillon grants Carte Blanche to Colette Barbier and Claudine Papillon. The collective exhibition runs from May 24th to July 19th, 2024, and can be discovered on the gallery’s first floor.

Colette Barbier (founder and director of the Pernod Ricard Foundation until 2022 and president of La Source Garouste Paris since 2023) and Claudine Papillon (founder of Galerie Papillon established in 1989) met 25 years ago and have shared hundreds of art events in France and abroad.

Among other good things…

Starting from May 2024, Claudine Papillon will host regular gatherings, on the first floor of the gallery, where friends, artists, collectors, and more will join her in curating exhibitions featuring works from the artists represented by the gallery.

For the first invitation extended to Colette Barbier, they reminisce about the origin of their friendship: the first Yellow Ball in 1999 organized by the Fondation Ricard, in partnership with Beaux-Arts Magazine. It was Erik Dietman who crafted the menu for this spectacular art celebration, entitled: “Among other good things from our Lenôtre”.

They mischievously repurposed Dietman’s whimsical titles, who we know as a Rabelaisian epicurean whose reputation as a cook and gourmet precedes him. Obvious connections are drawn between dishes like “Crêpes Suzanne with fresh goat cheese, Pages with paprika” and Didier Trenet’s Glass Cheese, or between “Algae Blistènes and salmon strips” and Linda Sanchez’s Aluminum Follies.

It all whimsically comes together with a distinct sense of humour and poetry.

Collective exhibition on the 1st floor featuring Grégoire Bergeret, Cathryn Boch, Gaëlle Chotard, Céline Cléron, Erik Dietman, Luka Fineisen, Mehdi-Georges Lahlou, Frédérique Loutz, Dieter Roth, JC Ruggirello, Elsa Sahal, Linda Sanchez, Didier Trenet, VOID among others.
