Galerie Papillon is giving Irene Mauri carte blanche as part of the exhibition “Matière vive.”
Settled on the first floor of the gallery, this exhibition, a carte blanche to Irene Mauri, brings together a selection of works by eight artists from the French art scene. It mainly features three-dimensional pieces that explore the themes of change and becoming. Some playful, others more organic, these works have a unique aura: they freeze in time a movement, a dynamism, a gesture triggered by the artist, the mediator between the material and its finished form. Here, the material is not simply a support, but an active force, a catalyst for transformations and sensations.
With Gaëlle Chotard, Baptiste Croze, Frédérique Loutz, Javier Pérez, JC Ruggirello,
Elsa Sahal, and Sabrina Vitali.
A young independent curator who first studied fine arts in Milan and Paris, Irene Mauri went on to earn a master’s degree in Art Mediation, Exhibition, and Criticism from Paris 8 University (Vincennes–Saint-Denis). She is interested in material dynamics and forms of sensory perception in contemporary art, and develops an approach that is attentive to both curatorial challenges and outreach to diverse audiences. In 2024, she co-curated the Paris 8 Master’s exhibition, “Peupler les plis,” presented at the Sample in Bagnolet in collaboration with the Seine-Saint-Denis Departmental Collection of Contemporary Art.
