For our second exhibition in our new Paris space, Alzueta Gallery is delighted to bring together the works of Hugo Alonso and Kim Simonsson, on view from May 7 to 30, 2025. Part of Tête à Tête, the gallery’s duo show series, the exhibition invites two artists to engage in a visual dialogue. Their worlds intersect, challenge, and echo each other, revealing unexpected connections along the way.

Here, Hugo Alonso’s paintings and Kim Simonsson’s sculptures unfold in a space where reality and fiction blur, and nature becomes a stage for philosophical and sensory reverie. Together, their works explore our relationship to what we see, to childhood, and to the experience of wonder. At the crossroads of forest and imagination, this encounter conjures dreamlike worlds populated by enigmatic presences. The forest — a recurring motif in both artists’ work — becomes a shared playground: an elusive refuge in Hugo Alonso’s misty landscapes and a home to Kim Simonsson’s Moss People. For both, nature is not just scenery but a living, mysterious being — both nurturing and unsettling.

The gallery

Alzueta Gallery establishes itself in Paris with a new space in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, furthering its commitment to contemporary creation. Located on rue des Beaux-Arts, this gallery aims to be an open window to the world: a space where artworks freely engage with the city’s energy, dissolving the boundaries between inside and outside.
With over twenty-five years of history, Alzueta Gallery—founded by Miquel Alzueta in Barcelona—is now an international reference. Following its spaces in Barcelona, Madrid, and Casavells, the opening of this new location in Paris strengthens its global presence.
Alzueta Gallery champions a diverse artistic scene, driven by a generation of emerging and established artists across various disciplines: painting, sculpture, photography. Through a vibrant program of exhibitions, residencies, and international fairs, the gallery supports the richness of contemporary languages and builds lasting bridges between creators, collectors, and institutions.
In Paris, Alzueta Gallery continues this mission by fostering a dynamic dialogue between art and its time, staying true to its goal of opening new spaces for creation, exchange, and reflection in each of its locations.
